A long-standing passion for volunteering and playing an active role in society has led Deepa to join our summer programme to work with our client United Kitchens and apply her professional skills to a growing social enterprise.
Hi! I’m Deepa, a Chartered Accountant based in London, with over 10 years of experience working in the city.
I’ve been volunteering in my hometown of Leicester from a young age, which has developed a passion for playing an active role in society and contributing to positive social change. I’ve gained a broad range of experience, from running local dance classes and tutoring young students through to submitting funding proposals and arranging petitions.
I graduated from the University of Cambridge with a degree in Management Studies and went straight into my accountancy qualifications. Since moving to London in 2008, I’ve predominantly worked for large multinational companies, specialising in corporate taxation. My background has provided me with a broad business understanding and the ability to pick things up quickly. I enjoy being a team player and learning about new areas.
I came across _SocialStarters completely by chance. Having spent some time doing my research it seemed like the perfect opportunity to learn about the key issues facing a start up in a flexible yet hands on way. I’d love to be able to help a growing social enterprise in any way I can and use my skills and experience to make a difference. I’m looking forward to doing something meaningful and socially minded, and I’m very grateful for this opportunity.
In my spare time, my passions are cooking and yoga. I’m a big foodie and enjoy trying out new recipes on friends and family, and try to balance this out with a fairly active lifestyle.
