INTRODUCING SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP CONSULTANT #37: REBECCA FLUHR

I am looking to have an adventure of my own design. Over the past four years I have put all my energy and time into my undergraduate studies with great success. Busy with school, part time jobs and internships, there was little time for me to find something to really motivate me in my future career path. I interned for non-profits, start-ups and sustainable businesses overseas that allowed me to gain a new perspective on how business can be conducted in a more meaningful and sustainable way. I learned that focusing on people, planet and profit at the same time could be done. During my last semester at Emerson College, I took a class on public diplomacy and grassroots movements where I learned that there are many non-traditional career options that can make a difference in the world. This course sparked my interest and I started proactively seeking out new opportunities before I start graduate school next year.

After searching for a while, I came across _SocialStarters. I was exhilarated that I had finally found a program that would allow me to utilize my marketing skills that I had learned in school while working towards a social mission at the same time. I was fortunate to travel at a young age but never to developing countries, which excites me as I can learn how business is conducted in developing countries and focus on training in social enterprise. I love to experience new cultures, try new foods and take photographs to share my experiences with others. I am thrilled to be part of a team that shares my love of helping others and traveling so we can all inspire new cause-driven ideas and projects for the future. If I were to define my future goals, they would be to develop an interesting career in sustainable business while contributing to society in the form of social enterprise.
