Introducing Social Enterprise Consultant #7 – Mary Bowden

Mary Bowden is currently travelling around South East Asia, and took the time to write this whilst on the road. Our Trainee Consultants are a broad mix of various levels of professional and they all bring something unique to their experience. We’re looking forward to learning more about agile development from Mary, that’s for sure…

Normally I’m a lead (UX) Designer and have been designing the user experience of digital interfaces for around 15 years. I work for Microsoft on a global music service called MixRadio.

My role is to lead the design on a range of technical projects ensuring a brilliant user experience that fulfills the needs of the business and our target users. We work in multi-disciplinary teams of product managers, designers and developers using agile development methodologies. I’ve worked client-side, in digital agencies and consultancies so have seen online business from many angles.

However, right now I’m on a 6 month sabbatical away from corporate life looking to try new things and experiences. I’m hoping to explore other ways of living, using my skills to be more productive and put something meaningful and sustainable back into the world. So far I’ve taken a yoga course, a permaculture design course and have visited India, Malaysia and Thailand.
